Root Touchup Formula: Bleach & Shine
With CHI Bleach & Shine, a 1 to 1 ratio of bleach to developer is the way to go. Combine 2 scoops of Bleach & Shine lightener with 2 oz of CHI Color Generator 20 volume and add 4 pumps of Royal Treatment Bond Rebuilder to fortify the hair during the chemical process.
Root Touchup Application
Step One: Back and Center
Starting at the back of the head, use ½-inch diagonal weaving slices near the ears to achieve a seamless blend. Follow this with horizontal weaving in the center sections.
Step Two: Bond And Seal
Before applying the lightener, mist each section with Royal Treatment Bond & Seal for added protection. Your clients’ hair will thank you.
Step Three: Crown
For the crown area, continue weaving ½-inch horizontal sections up from the center sections to achieve a detailed and seamless blend with the client’s original highlights.
Pro Tip: Be sure to feather the lightener at the roots to avoid harsh lines!
Step Four: Processing
Allow the Bleach & Shine formula to process on the hair for 35 minutes.
Step Five: Rinsing and Shampooing
- Rinse with cool water and shampoo using Royal Treatment Bond & Repair Shampoo for added strength after processing.
- Follow up with Royal Treatment Color Gloss: Blonde Enhancing Purple Shampoo to tone the highlights. Let it sit for 5 minutes on the roots to remove brassy undertones, then blend it out with the rest of the hair.
- Condition the hair with Royal Treatment Color Gloss: Blonde Enhancing Purple Conditioner to further tone as it nourishes the hair.
Step Six: Heat Protection
Before styling and applying heat to the client’s hair, mist the entire hair with Royal Treatment Royal Guard to protect it from heat damage.
Step Seven: Styling
- Use the CHI LAVA Pro Hair Dryer to blow-dry the hair for faster drying with added negative ions for smoothness.

Step Eight: Finishing Touches
