Farouk Systems Sponsors Charity
Gala for Missy's Mirror
Houston, TX. - Due to Farouk Systems’ devotion to assisting women stricken with cancer, the company recently sponsored a gala charity event in Kansas City. Mo. Missy’s Mirror is a non-for-profit organization founded by two families who lost their daughters (both named Missy) to breast cancer. It is a division of St. Luke’s Hospital Cancer Institute and the first appearance center devoted to helping women with post-surgical fittings, including lumpectomy, biopsy and mastectomy; or helping those who have other appearance needs. They provide hats, scarves and wigs for women who have lost their hair due to chemotherapy. If a patient can not afford to purchase the items needed, Missy’s Mirror supplies them at no charge. Missy’s Mirror also houses a salon supplied with CHI products in order to help women with styling their wigs and/or preparing their hair before and after chemotherapy.
During a recent fund raising event, Shauky Gulamani donated his hairdressing expertise to Missy’s Mirror by offering consultations to numerous cancer patients. Missy’s Mirror also honored Mr. Gulamani at a gala benefit fashion show which helped raise $14,000. During this event, former cancer patients received makeovers with CHI products and previewed fashions by J. Jill, The Gap, The Little House, Mady, Savvi Formal Wear and Serendipity. Also, to help raise additional revenue, Farouk Systems donated numerous celebrity autographs to the event’s auction.
